Textile Testing
James Heal Crock Master 680
James Heal’s CrockMaster is a crockmeter instrument used to determine colour fastness to wet and dry rubbing. It tests textiles, carpets, laminates, and printing inks, as well as the micro-scratch resistance of lacquers, coatings and painted surfaces. It is available in motorised and hand-operated models.

Available as either a hand operated or motorised instrument.

The rubbing finger is easy to load with crocking cloth by using a spring clip.
· Alternative applications
Apart from textile testing, the CrockMaster can be used to test the colour fastness to rubbing of carpets, laminates and printing inks.
It also tests the micro-scratch resistance of lacquers, coatings or painted surfaces.
· Flexible Design
The specimen clamp has been designed to be suitable for a wide variety of materials.
The weight to produce a loading of 9N is removable and alternative weights can be used.

Customers can use our crocking cloth’s and cotton lawns alongside our Crockmaster (Crockmeter) instrument as a way of assessing the amount of dye transfer following the completion of either a dry or wet rub fastness test.
- Every metre of test cloth is rigorously inspected to ensure that you receive faultless material.
- Supplied the metre or as crocking squares (cut pieces) – 5 x 5cm with straight or gimped edges.
- We supply European (ISO) and American (AATCC) material. (The specifications are different and are not interchangeable.)

James Heal Grey Scale
Grey scales can be used for assessing colour change and staining during colour fastness testing. The colour change scale consists of nine pairs of grey coloured chips, from grades 1 to 5 (with four half steps). Grade 5 represents no change and grade 1 depicts severe change in some standards.

We weave our own Multifibre DW, inspecting every meter in order to ensure that you receive a high quality test fabric every time.
These fabrics are manufactured with the necessary composition in order to be compliant with the requirements of ISO 105 F10 and to be approved by many specifiers situated in both the UK and Europe.

James Heal Sample Cutter
Virtually any type of material can be cut, including woven, nonwoven and knitted textiles, carpet, film, foam, paper and board. The cutters can handle material thicknesses up to about 5mm. If you need more, Model 230/100(C) incorporates heavy duty blades and can cut specimens up to approximately 10mm thick. If in doubt, send us some material for evaluation.
- Sample Cutters enable you to quickly and accurately cut circular specimens of a fixed diameter
- UKAS-accredited Certificates of Calibration are available to confirm the cutting accuracy of these instruments
